How to Update Your Mobile Number Linked to Emirates ID

Use ICP's Data Update service to change the mobile number in your identity contact record. Updating a UAE Pass profile or a bank account does not establish that ICP's record has changed.

Identify which record is wrong

An outdated number can appear in several places: ICP contact data, UAE Pass, a bank, an employer, a telecommunications account or an Abu Dhabi service profile. These organisations may exchange selected information, but they do not necessarily update every field at the same moment.

Start with the symptom. If an ICP application displays an old number, investigate ICP's record. If login recovery fails inside UAE Pass, use UAE Pass support. If only a bank notification goes to an old telephone, ask the bank to check its contact profile. This avoids paying for an unrelated transaction.

What ICP's service covers

ICP describes Data Update as the service for non-essential information, specifically telephone number, email address and address. Its current terms say at least one of those fields must be updated. This is a contact-data transaction, distinct from correcting printed identity information or changing residence details.

The service is federal and applies through ICP's own smart channels. An Abu Dhabi resident does not need a separate local identity authority merely because the problem first appears on TAMM. Follow the agency responsible for the underlying record rather than the branding of the screen where you noticed it.

Use the correct applicant account

The published ICP terms place the transaction in the customer's personal account. For family members, they direct the update through the sponsor's or head of family's personal account. Do not assume every adult can edit another adult's identity data from a shared household login.

Before beginning, decide whose record needs changing. Keep the person's identity reference available and verify their name on screen. If the record is missing from a permitted family relationship, ask ICP to resolve the association rather than selecting a similarly named person or inventing an application relationship.

Prepare a number you control

Use a telephone number that you can keep accessible and monitor. Check the international prefix and every digit before submission. A single incorrect digit can send future notices to someone else or prevent you from completing a later authentication step.

If you are changing number because the old SIM is lost, deal with the telecommunications provider separately. Regaining control of a SIM and editing an identity contact field are not the same task. Tell official support if the usual process requires a code sent to a number you can no longer access.

Submit through the official channel

Open the ICP website or official app directly, sign in through the offered authentication route and find Data Update. Review the current service conditions, enter the correct contact information and complete the requested confirmation and payment steps, where applicable.

The public service card outlines the process but the live account determines the fields and options available to you. Screen names can change. Avoid instructions that require you to visit an unexplained third-party link or give a stranger remote access to your device just to reach a setting.

Confirm completion rather than assuming it

Keep the reference and any acknowledgement. A payment receipt shows that a payment was processed; it does not independently establish that the correct person and number are now recorded. Check the final transaction status and, when available, review the updated profile.

If a service continues to display the old number, note which service it is and when the change completed. Ask whether it reads ICP's current record or maintains its own contact information. Do not submit repeated changes blindly when the real problem might be a different provider's database.

Update UAE Pass and important organisations separately

Review your UAE Pass account after changing a long-term telephone number. Its login and recovery details deserve a separate check. Follow the official account-change procedure and retain access to your registered email while making the change.

Then review banks, health insurance, utilities and other essential accounts. Prioritise services that send security alerts or time-sensitive notices. A short private checklist is more reliable than assuming one central update has reached every organisation you use. Mark each account complete only after checking its own confirmation.

Resolve errors without exposing credentials

If you cannot reach the service, use ICP's support or customer-happiness channel and explain the precise obstacle: inaccessible old number, incorrect profile, missing family record or failed completion. Include the transaction reference where requested through the secure channel.

Never post an unredacted card, full application or one-time code in a public support thread. A helper can explain which menu to use without learning your PIN. Keep control of the authentication step yourself. The objective is a correct contact record and reliable future access, achieved without creating an avoidable account-security problem.

Before giving up an old number voluntarily, complete important account changes while you still control it. Then check the new recovery arrangement independently. This is easier than attempting several simultaneous recoveries after the old number has already been disconnected or reassigned.
