Independent educational information. This publication does not provide immigration applications or individual legal advice. Confirm requirements with the responsible authority before acting.
Verify UAE immigration information by identifying the issuing authority, opening the relevant official service page and checking that the advice fits your actual permit category. A professional-looking website, social-media following or confident agent is not evidence that an immigration claim is correct.
For an Abu Dhabi residence file, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) is the normal starting point. Employment offers and work permits may need separate verification with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) or the relevant free-zone authority. Knowing who decides each question prevents you from treating an immigration agent as the final authority on everything.
Begin with a precise question
Write down the decision you need to make. For example: does my category permit this extended absence, what deadline follows my recorded cancellation, or has this employer actually obtained permission for me to work? A precise question is easier to verify than a general search for visa rules.
Include the facts that change the answer: permit type, issuing authority, whether you are inside or outside the country and the relevant dates. Do not publish passport numbers or identity documents in a public forum to obtain that guidance.
An answer about a different residence route can be accurate and still unsuitable for you. Check applicability before comparing fees, timelines or benefits.
Check the source and service title
Reach the authority through its independently verified website rather than a paid advertisement or an unsolicited message. Inspect the domain carefully and follow service links from the official homepage where uncertain. A logo can be copied; the organisation controlling the website matters.
Read the service title, category selector, conditions and required documents together. Issuing an entry permission, amending residence and extending a visit are different services. A fee copied from one cannot be assumed to price the others.
The page footer may show a website-wide update date rather than the date a particular requirement changed. Treat dates as useful context, not as proof that every paragraph has been newly reviewed.
Distinguish guidance from a personal decision
A general government page explains the framework. An authenticated service record or issued decision establishes what happened in your application. An application number shows a submission can be tracked, but does not mean it was approved.
If a service description and your record seem inconsistent, preserve both and ask the authority to explain the difference. Do not resolve uncertainty by choosing whichever version offers the longest stay or lowest fee.
Where two official publications conflict, quote the precise discrepancy in your enquiry. The responsible service authority can assess the file; a forum vote cannot. Keep the response and its reference number with your documents.
Verify employment separately
A genuine offer should identify the actual employer and proposed terms. Use the appropriate official verification route rather than rely solely on a recruiter forwarding a PDF. An employer's commercial existence does not prove that every person using its name is authorised to recruit.
The UAE Government's labour and visa fraud guidance addresses these risks. It also warns that visit or tourist status does not authorise work. A recruiter promising immediate work while papers follow is not offering a substitute legal route.
If the company belongs to a free zone, establish that jurisdiction and contact the authority through an independently located channel. Do not assume a missing mainland record proves fraud without checking the correct system.
Assess a service provider's role
An authorised typing or service centre may help prepare an application. That does not mean it can guarantee approval, invent eligibility or cancel fines without a government decision. Ask exactly what administrative service it provides and who makes the final decision.
Request an itemised quotation separating government charges, optional service fees and any refundable deposit. Keep invoices and application references. Be cautious if payment is requested to an unrelated personal account or if the provider refuses to identify the service it will submit.
Do not approve unexplained UAE Pass requests or share passwords and authentication codes. Where authentication is needed for a legitimate transaction, understand the request and the action you are authorising.
Warning signs worth investigating
Be concerned about guaranteed approvals before documents are reviewed, urgency designed to prevent independent checks, claims of secret government contacts and promises that a special payment can erase a record. The same applies to requests to sign blank forms or alter qualifications.
Avoid sending original documents or sensitive scans merely to obtain a general quotation. Ask why each item is necessary and how it will be handled. Provide information through an appropriate verified route when the actual application requires it.
An unusually attractive claim should be checked against the eligibility conditions, not judged only by whether the price seems affordable.
Keep a verification trail
Save the official page title, URL, date accessed and the requirement relevant to your decision. Store the issued permission separately from screenshots of general guidance. Record who submitted the application and where you can track it.
If you suspect fraud, preserve messages, payment evidence and documents without further engaging in an uncertain transaction. Contact the relevant authority or appropriate reporting channel using independently verified details. A clear evidence trail is more useful than an argument with the sender and helps distinguish a misunderstanding from a deliberately false promise.
