Verify an Abu Dhabi job offer by checking the employer, document and applicable official employment process. A signed PDF with a logo is not enough evidence on its own.
Confirm the company and sender
Find the employer through an independent official or established channel. Contact it using details you verified yourself, rather than only the number in the message. Check the role and the person authorised to issue the offer.
Check the employment route
For MOHRE-regulated employment, the UAE government's fraud guidance describes verification of the official offer using its reference. Other regimes require their responsible authority's process. Do not apply a MOHRE check to an unrelated government or ADGM arrangement without confirming scope.
Review the package
Compare legal employer, role, workplace, basic pay, allowances, benefits and conditions. Ask who handles authorisation and when duties may start. Do not resign or transfer money solely because a sender promises that official paperwork will follow later.
Check three separate things
Verification involves the employer's existence, the person's authority to recruit and the employment document itself. Establishing only one is insufficient. A real company can be impersonated, and a genuine employee may not be authorised to offer you a job. Start from information you find independently rather than links or telephone numbers supplied inside the offer.
Look up the organisation's legal name and business activity through the relevant official business register or licensing authority. Compare the name with the contract and payment instructions. A trading brand and legal entity can differ legitimately, but the employer should explain the relationship clearly. Ask which entity will appear on your work records.
Confirm the sender through a second channel
Find the employer's established website and call its published switchboard or contact human resources through a verified address. Ask whether the named recruiter and vacancy are genuine. Do not simply reply to the same message requesting reassurance. A domain that resembles the employer's name can still belong to an impersonator.
For a recruiter-led application, verify both the agency and the employer at the stage when the employer can be disclosed. An invitation to a video call is useful but does not prove the offer. Be especially careful if all communication avoids the organisation's normal systems and moves immediately to payment or document collection.
Use the correct employment authority
For employment handled by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, the government's fraud-prevention guidance explains checking an offer reference through the ministry. Obtain the actual reference and access the official enquiry service yourself. A screenshot showing approval can be edited or belong to a different applicant.
Not every Abu Dhabi appointment uses the same channel. Government employment and Abu Dhabi Global Market, known as ADGM, have separate arrangements. The ADGM Employment Affairs Office publishes its applicable framework and permit guidance. Ask the employer to identify the correct authority rather than assuming an offer is fake solely because it is not a MOHRE document.
Compare the offer with what was discussed
Check job title, duties, workplace, basic pay, allowances, benefits, hours and anticipated start date. Identify conditions such as qualification checks, licensing, references or other approvals. A conditional offer should be understood as conditional; it should not be described to another employer as an unconditional confirmed start.
Ask for clarification of discrepancies in writing. If the package changes between the offer and contract, identify the exact differences and why they arose. Do not sign an incomplete document on the understanding that salary or benefits will be added later. Keep a copy of each version rather than overwriting the earlier one.
Examine money and travel requests
A request that you personally fund recruitment or visa processing through an intermediary is a significant warning sign. Federal private-sector employer responsibilities cannot be replaced by an unverified promise of reimbursement. Distinguish those requests from legitimate personal choices, such as independently paying for your own general career preparation.
Verify any entry or residence document through the responsible immigration authority. For Abu Dhabi this involves the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security, or ICP, rather than assuming a Dubai service covers the document. Do not travel on the strength of a PDF alone or begin duties merely because an employer says a permit will follow.
Record the outcome before making commitments
Create a small verification file containing the original advertisement, offer, checked contact channel, authority reference and unresolved conditions. This is especially valuable before resigning, booking family travel or paying a tenancy deposit. It gives you a factual basis for deciding which commitments can safely wait.
For example, a hypothetical overseas engineer might verify the company and offer but still need a professional approval clarified. The correct conclusion is that identity checks passed while readiness to start remains unresolved. Verification should identify remaining dependencies, not produce an all-or-nothing label that ignores practical conditions.
