Look for Abu Dhabi vacancies through direct employer career pages, reputable job platforms, verified recruiters and official government job portals. No single channel captures every suitable opening.

Search by employer and role

Create a shortlist of organisations hiring for your skill set. Check their own careers pages and use the same role keywords on broader platforms. Include common alternative job titles so wording differences do not hide relevant vacancies.

Verify an advertisement

Compare it with the employer's official site where possible. Check the legal entity, location, role reference and contact domain. A copied logo or familiar platform is not proof that the sender represents the employer.

Remove wasted effort

Record duplicate advertisements and the original source. Check closing dates and whether applications go to a live official form. For government roles, use the current portals listed by the UAE government. Do not send identity or banking documents merely because an unverified vacancy claims they are needed before an initial conversation.

Start with the organisation behind the vacancy

An employer's own careers page is a useful reference point because it can connect the role to an identifiable organisation, business location and application system. Look for a vacancy reference and department, then save the original description before it closes. An advertisement copied onto another website may omit conditions or continue circulating after recruitment ends.

Build bookmarks for employers relevant to your profession rather than checking every large company indiscriminately. A hospital, engineering consultancy and hospitality operator recruit through different channels and need different evidence. Search the actual work as well as the title: procurement, purchasing and supply-chain coordination may overlap, while identical titles can describe very different responsibilities.

Use government portals with eligibility in mind

The UAE Government's directory of job-search channels links to federal and emirate government portals, including Abu Dhabi. Follow those official links rather than relying on a social-media account using a government-style logo. Read the vacancy's nationality, qualification, experience and language conditions before preparing an application.

A position being publicly advertised does not mean every applicant category is eligible. Government recruitment and national employment programmes have their own conditions. Likewise, a government-owned commercial business may recruit under arrangements different from a government department. Check the named employing entity instead of treating the whole public-facing sector as one employment system.

Let job platforms widen coverage

Established platforms can reveal employers you had not considered and support alerts for location, function and seniority. Set filters carefully: an advertisement tagged Abu Dhabi may involve a remote project site, travel between emirates or work outside the city centre. Review the full description before deciding that the commute or role is suitable.

Search in a regular, limited session and save only plausible matches. Duplicate agency listings can make demand appear larger than it is. Compare wording, dates, reference numbers and employer descriptions before treating similar advertisements as separate opportunities. Do not send several conflicting CV versions to what may be the same hiring team.

Check specialist and professional routes

Professional associations, university career services and sector events may help identify opportunities that broad searches miss. Use them to understand hiring needs and find legitimate contacts. Attendance, membership or a referral does not guarantee employment, and an event listing is not proof that a particular vacancy exists.

If a recruiter contacts you about an unadvertised role, ask how the assignment works and who will receive your CV. There can be legitimate confidential searches, but confidentiality should not remove every way to check the agency or process. Obtain permission before allowing several agencies to submit you to the same employer.

Make social-media leads verifiable

Treat posts in messaging groups and social feeds as leads to investigate. Independently find the employer's website and contact details, then check whether the advertised position and person are genuine. A repost from a friend can still contain an outdated or fraudulent vacancy. Never let an approaching application deadline replace this check.

Be cautious when a post immediately directs everyone to a personal payment account, requests full passport records or promises employment without a relevant selection process. The official fraud guidance explains verification routes and the employer's recruitment-cost responsibility. Optional CV services are different from paying someone to secure a job.

A practical source register

Keep a small table with source, target roles, last checked date, employer verification and next action. Mark whether the vacancy is original, duplicated, closed or awaiting clarification. This makes the search easier to audit when responses arrive weeks later.

For example, a hypothetical facilities coordinator might monitor selected employers directly, use one broad platform alert and maintain contact with a verified specialist recruiter. The point is complementary coverage. If every source repeats the same unsuitable roles, refine the target or search terms rather than adding more identical alerts.

Keep alert settings under review

If alerts produce mostly unsuitable results, change the function, seniority or location filters rather than reading the same irrelevant list each morning. Check a sample of excluded roles to ensure the filters are not too narrow. Keep an ordinary calendar reminder for employers without alerts so that direct career pages remain part of the search instead of disappearing behind platform notifications.
